From the Archives: Long Beach Criterium 1991...

I know I used this photo once before, to emphasize some point I was making, but without any further information. It is the old Long Beach Criterium Series - flat and fast, often with a wicked headwind on the back stretch. A group of Cheverolet / LA Sheriff riders watching the action. Ernest Martinez (middle) and Jared Sinkwich (right). Can't remember the name of the guy on the left. Just watching the race go by? Looks like the group was in full flight heading into that final turn; going all out, single-file.

From the Archives: Long Beach Criterium 1991...

While the Chevrolet / LA Sheriff men's team is well known, the women's team were quite impressive in their own right, back in the early to mid 1990s. Many of the women from those years are still active in racing and/or other aspects of cycling. Among the names you may recognize who raced for the team back then are Pam Schuster, Christy Nicholson, Elizabeth Emory, Esther Davis, and Molly Renner, among others. There are six ladies wearing the green and yellow in the above photo taken during the old Long Beach series. Anyone here have a good eye for faces, and can identify any of them?

From the archives: Brian Seguin...

photo was taken at one of the races in the old Long Beach series. I am thinking it might be from 1992, since he is riding a team issue Medici, and the Chevrolet / LA Sheriff's switched over to Litespeed in 1993. Additionally, judging by the skinsuit graphics I don't think it is any earlier. I have another photo of him in sprint mode, but that will be for another time.
