I know this has been all over the mainstream and the blogosphere, but it is one of the classics of the year. So, without further ado, I present to you for your amusement, or disgust (I say disgust because the author of this quote apparently and honestly believes that converting residential streets into "speedways" is a good thing.
"For years, Wilbur Avenue had been a free-flowing community secret, a commuter street that bypassed the congestion of Northridge's main routes. Then a "street improvement" project last month turned our speedway into a parking lot..."
During the war between the Irish Republican Army and Britain, this would have been called "doing an own". It is also commonly known as "foot in mouth disease". Two sentences reveal the real reason for all the hue and cry over the Wilbur road diet, and the reason why it is so necessary.

And as for the woman in the video (Link #2) who complains about all the traffic when dropping off her child at school - if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. I doubt the Valley has changed so much since I grew up there (other than there being more of everything now, except open space), that neighborhood schools are still close enough to be walked, or biked, to.
