From the Archives: Manhattan Beach Grand Prix 1991

Yet another podium shot with a Chevrolet / LA Sheriff rider on the top step. Velo Club La Grange rider with bronze, and I am not sure of the team affiliation of the silver medal winner. 1991 was the races' 30th edition, making it (already) one of the nations longest running, and most prestigious. A brief blurb in the Los Angeles Times (yes, the Times actually wrote about local events once upon a time) notes, that years race (pros) at Manhattan Beach would be raced for $5,000 cash and prizes, and that riders the likes of Davis Phinney and Jeff Pierce would be competing. Twenty-one years later, and the Manhattan Beach Grand Prix still draws top racers from around the country.
