CHWP closure...
As of today, January 3, due to hazardous trail conditions as a result of recent rainfall, the city's fire department has recommended that the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park be closed to public access until repairs/maintenance can be made. One account I read noted that a couple hikers, caught in a downpour and unable to get out, called 911; the fire department was unable to get their trucks up the roads, and the pair had to be rescued by a park ranger. The city notes that repairs could take weeks to complete. I know a lot of people access the park via round about and back ways, hikers and trail runners especially just tend to hop the fence. But the park is closed for a reason, and if caught by a ranger up there you can receive an expensive citation. Best to make sure the park is reopened before heading up. I will post as soon as I hear anything; you can also call the city to confirm trail status at 909-399-5431.

ReplyDeleteSometimes there is a time lag between the park opening and the webpage being updated, however.
