Alert: Threat to Bicycle and Pedestrian Funding...

The Safe Routes to School National Partnership has put out an alert, for all who are concerned about alternatives to the motor-driven status quo, who lament the fact that parents no longer feel it is reasonably safe for their kids to walk or ride bikes to school, who realize that urban congestion will only continue to worsen no matter how much freeway widening takes place. Familiar roadblocks to problem solving, Congressman John Mica and Senator James Inhofe, consider funding for public safety measures, which is what funding for bicycle and pedestrian projects promotes, along with improved health, real time savings, and as we are finding out more and more, economic stimulus, to be frivolous. This funding is in danger of being cut, or completely eliminated from federal level funding.
