I've got a few more of these local favorites to roll out before the big event arrives Friday evening. The first of a trio today is not only a great place to eat, drink, and socialize, but has been a supporter of cycling, I believe, since their inception. The Back Abbey Cycling Team fly the colors of Belgium across the roads of Southern California.
The Back Abbey is indeed a bit of Belgium set down in Claremont. The frites are a must, the burgers are good, as are the salads. The beer, well I guess that goes without saying - there are some 80+ varieties of Belgian brews available, in addition to smaller selections from elsewhere in Europe, and Canada. They also have wine, if that is your preference. Indoor seating is tight, this is not a large place. Luckily, this being Southern California, you can sit outside most of the year. Of course due to the popularity of the Back Abbey, seating indoor or outdoor, often involves a wait, but if you are after some pub grub and Belgian beer, this is the place. Oh, and the frites, they are a must have. You can check their menu and drink selection here.
strong local team !! As with Coates.
