Is there really any reason not to be in the best shape of our lives, every day of our lives?

If we all rode our bikes...
"We'd be in the best shape of our lives, every day of our lives." If we all rode our bikes. I heard this on a little video titled Human-Powered Health, by Solve. The video features riders of the Kelly Benefit Strategies Team, and it instantly stuck in my head. It is such a simple concept, but often overlooked. We tend to regard the "best shape of our lives" as occurring within a rather set and limited period of time, you know - I was in the best shape of my life in my 20s, 30s, or what ever. Maybe it is just me, but the fact that you could be in the best shape of you life for any given moment of time hit like a minor epiphany. I mean why not? I figure I am in about as good shape as I could be as this point in my life, a fact which, as the video suggests, I owe largely to cycling. I seriously doubt that the vast majority of people in my generation could say the same with as much conviction.

Great video. "The Best Shape of our Lives," I feel that time is now and I can only hope I can say this in my forties and fifties and so on. Thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteI know my work off of my bike and trailer around Claremont will redound to me by adding five more years to my life. I absolutely do not miss having a car.
